UPDATE AUGUST 8: Blaine Michael Alan Dunn, who is known to police, has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. Dunn has appeared in court and released on bail with conditions. His next court appearance is set for August 15.

UPDATE July 29: A 26-year-old man from New Westminster has been arrested in connection with Saturday night’s stabbing.

VANCOUVER – One man is being treated in hospital after being stabbed while travelling on SkyTrain in Burnaby.

Investigators say the victim was attacked on an eastbound train near Edmonds Station around 1:40 a.m. This was one of the last trains of the night.

He was taken to hospital where he received five stitches. He was later released.

Officers are now in the process of interviewing the victim and witnesses and reviewing surveillance video.

Two men arrested were questioned and later released. The investigation is continuing as to the location of the suspect. He is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years, 5’8” to 5’9” tall, 150 lbs., wavy brown hair cut shorter on one side, wearing a black T-shirt and black cargo shorts.

Police say everyone involved was intoxicated.

In another incident, a 25-year-old woman overdosed on GHB at Waterfront Station, just after 7:30 p.m. She was taken to hospital where she remains today.

Transit Police say the night was otherwise quiet.

One weapon was seized and 49 people had their liquor poured out.
