75-year-old man dies in crash on Okanagan Connector

VANCOUVER – Police are investigating a fatal crash that forced the closure of the Okanagan Connector, Highway 97C, for several hours on Friday afternoon.

A westbound pickup truck crashed into the back of a commercial vehicle about a kilometre-and-a-half east of the Loon Lake exit.

The male driver of the truck was transported to hospital by air ambulance where he died of his injuries.

He has not been identified but police say he was 75 years old and lived in the interior.

The highway has since reopened.

The RCMP are asking if you witnessed this collision and have not spoken to a police officer, to contact Const. Tammy Denning of the Central Interior Traffic Services Unit in Merritt at 250-378-4262.
