Kamloops and other parts of southern B.C. are cleaning up today after a storm hammered the city Wednesday afternoon turning streets into rivers.
A local woman is counting her lucky stars after being swept through a culvert out into the Thompson River during the storm.
18-year-old Jade Abounassar was swept away in a city culvert. The young woman says she went into the culvert thinking it would shelter her from the torrential downpour.
Instead, she was overpowered by the flood of water and was washed down the culvert for more than a kilometre, finally ending up in the Thompson River.
After Jade swam to shore, a Good Samaritan helped get her to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
She is hoping the man who helped her comes forward so she can thank him personally.
