The city currently has 663 skyscrapers with the tallest being the Shangri-La on West Georgia Street, which stands at 201 metres high.

The second tallest building in the city is the private residences at Hotel Georgia.

New York City placed first on the list with nearly 6,000 skyscrapers. Toronto claimed the second place spot and Montreal placed 10th.

But if all the skyscrapers in Metro Vancouver were added up, we would place much higher on the list.

“What we’re not taking into account is the different municipalities in Metro Vancouver,” said Mike Kozakowski from Skyscraper Source Media Inc. “So you have New York City, Chicago, Tokyo, Mexico City, Shanghai, ahead of Vancouver, the City of Vancouver. But if we were to add all of the municipalities we’re actually number three, right behind Toronto, which is about 2,000. Vancouver all combined, about 1,200.”
