STEINBACH – Three time Manitoba Amateur golf champion Garth Collings is one step closer to a 4th championship.
The 56-year-old Collings from Matlock has the 36 hole lead at the provincial Men’s Amateur Championship being contest at The Links at Quarry Oaks near Steinbach.

Collings firing back to back 67’s for a two stroke lead on four time champion Todd Fanning who’s 69 has him at 8 under par.
Collings has already won amateur titles in 3 different decades (1987, 1994 and 2009)
Gunton’s Aaron Cockerill sits in 3rd place at 5 under after carding a 2nd round 70.
The 3rd round goes Wednesday with the champion crowned after Thursdays final round.
