KELOWNA — Fire crews are on scene at an apartment balcony fire on Mills Road near Highway 33. Witnesses report hearing a loud bang just after 4 p.m. then smelling smoke.
“I looked out our living room window and saw the flames shooting out the top apartment,” says a witness.
The fire started in a corner unit. It’s unclear if it sparked inside or on the balcony and what caused the fire is still unknown.
The tenant living inside the unit wasn’t home when the fire started. All other occupants of the two-storey apartment complex were evacuated without injury.
Damage to the unit is extensive.
