West Vancouver Police looking for witness to elderly man groping 11-year-old on a bus

WEST VANCOUVER – Police are looking for a witness who intervened when an elderly man allegedly groped a young girl on a transit bus Monday afternoon.

A 22-year-old North Vancouver woman and an 11-year-old girl boarded a West Vancouver Blue Bus at Park Royal North. As the #255 travelled west through Ambleside an elderly man began speaking with the pair before sitting down next to the 11-year-old. Police say the man than allegedly began touching the young girl inappropriately.

Another female passenger saw the man’s interaction with the young girl and began yelling at him to stop. The man was ordered off the bus near 17 Street and Marine Drive.

The alleged victim and the family member travelling with her got off the bus near the West Vancouver Community Centre and called police.

Officers did respond and find a man in relation to the incident, however, they say further investigation is required.

The woman who verbally intervened did not remain at the scene and investigators would like to speak to her. She has long dark hair and was wearing dark frame glasses and a blue top.
