REGINA – Regina police have laid charges in the city’s fourth homicide of the year, in relation to the victim of a serious assault earlier this week who died in hospital.
Police say a 50-year-old man walked into the Pasqua Hospital around 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning with a stab wound to his chest.
Hospital staff brought the man in immediately to undergo surgery but, just after 8 p.m. Friday police received word he had died from his injuries.
40-year-old Rueben Pelletier of Regina has been charged with second degree murder.
He will make his first court appearance Monday morning.
Officers add they’ve executed two search warrants but are waiting on lab results in an effort to determine the location of the assault.
The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
The homicide investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
