  • Ukraine’s separatist rebels say they have found “most” of the recording devices from the Malaysia Airlines plane that was shot down over rebel-held territory in eastern Ukraine. Malaysia Airlines says at least one Canadian was on board Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, reportedly shot down Thursday over a town in the east of Ukraine. Malaysia’s prime minister hasn’t confirmed the crash was an attack.
  • Members of the Leaside community are mourning the loss of six-year-old Georgia Walsh. Flowers, cards and stuffed animals have been placed at the corner of Millwood Road and McRae Drive. Over a hundred people gathered Thursday afternoon to pay their respects and remember a little girl who was so full of life.
  • One man is in hospital after gunfire erupted at a house party in Toronto’s Little Italy early Friday morning. The incident happened just after 3:30 a.m. on Bathurst Street. A man in his 20s was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police are searching for a suspect who fled the scene.
  • The City of Toronto is advising the public to allow for extra time to get around due to a number of special events happening throughout the summer. Officials want to make sure that your travels plans may involve some significant delays, especially for drivers. Here’s a list of road closures this weekend.
  • Two more of Canada’s first responders killed themselves this week, bringing the total number of suicides by Canadian paramedics, firefighters, police officers, dispatchers and prison staff to 13 in roughly ten weeks.
