Weather Forecast: More Cloud With Just a Slight Shower Risk

Weather Update: Thursday July 17th 5pm

With all these fires around, residents are wishing for showers in the forecast.

The potential is there for this weekend, especially for the Shuswap and Columbia regions, but the Okanagan will just see a slight chance of a shower this weekend.

The winds are also not helping the situation. Currently winds are gusting over 20km/h in some areas.

With the upper ridge being replaced by a broad upper trough, temperatures will cool off back to seasonal this weekend, and this gradual cooling will help the fire situation, but the widespread rain that is needed to help the wildfire situation is not in the weekend forecast.

Looking well ahead into the middle of next week, a stronger upper low does make its way down to our area, which could be the rain maker that firefighters are waiting for, but confidence is still low as this weather event is still close to a week away.
