TORONTO — Fresh from revealing a female Thor, Marvel announced Wednesday the new Captain America will be a black man.
Appearing on The Colbert Report, Marvel’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada, said Sam Wilson — also known as The Falcon — will carry the iconic shield in Captain America #21.
In the blockbuster movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Falcon was portrayed by Anthony Mackie, who is black.
The new Captain America will only appear in the pages of comic books.
