UPDATE: Fire that damaged Abbotsford’s Maan Farms considered arson

An early morning fire that has caused extensive damage to a popular farm and tourist attraction in Abbotsford is now considered arson.

Flames were spotted soaring from the main building at Maan Farms just before 1 a.m. on Monday.

By some estimates, they were rising 20 metres into the air from McKenzie and Huntington Road.

The building in question houses the farm market, a winery, and the business offices for the farm.

The top floor of the building is gutted, although it’s not clear yet if that’s where the fire broke out.

No one was hurt.

The owners were trying to salvage as many berries as possible. The berries were being stored in a sealed cooler that does not appear to be damaged.
