Two men charged in Calgary drug bust

CALGARY – Police have laid charges against two men after a drug bust that netted a variety of narcotics.

On April 30th, police executed search warrants on three homes; one located in the 500 block of 25 Avenue S.W., one in the 100 block of Deerfield Terrace S.E and one in the 8800 block of Horton Road S.W. They also searched two vehicles.

Then on May 26th, police searched a safe deposit box at a financial institution.

During their investigation, officers seized:

  • 3,632.1 grams of cocaine
  • 200 grams of crack cocaine
  • 166 grams of marijuana, many individually packaged
  • 18 grams of marijuana butter
  • 373.4 grams of MDMA
  • 1,240.4 grams of an unknown cutting agent
  • $43,169 in Canadian currency
  • $1,960 in US currency
  • 9 mm handgun with ammunition
  • A taser
  • Scales
  • Packaging materials and a heat sealer
  • Cookware for production of crack cocaine
  • Cell phones

Police have laid 30 charges against two Calgary men.

Peter Alexander Steell, 30, is charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking
  • Production or manufacturing of cocaine
  • Two counts of possession of marijuana
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • Five counts of possession of a weapon for a  dangerous purpose
  • Two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon with ammunition
  • Possession of prohibited weapon other than a replica

Clayton Matthew Togonon, 31, is charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking
  • Production or manufacturing of cocaine
  • possession of marijuana
  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a  dangerous purpose
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon with ammunition
  • Possession of prohibited weapon other than a replica

Both men are schedules to appear in court on Wednesday, July 20th, 2014.
