WATCH: Top Elvis tribute artist in Europe is a Penticton man

PENTICTON – Adam Fitzpatrick has the voice, the shuffle, and the jet black hair.

He is a full-time Elvis tribute artist.

Last weekend, he took his talent across the pond to the Elvis festival in Blackpool, England.

“They say: What are you doing here?” chuckles Fitzpatrick. “It is a long way to go for a competition.”

But it was worth the distance. Fitzpatrick took home top honours and about $5,500 Cdn.

Most of all, he now qualifies to enter the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, Tennessee.

“It’s an honour to make the competition and I’d like to win it, but there are so many guys that are good.”

Last year, he placed second.

Competitors are judged on vocals, style, stage wear and stage presence.

The week-long festival runs from August 9-17.
