Jays recall Kratz, place Gillespie on 15-day DL

TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays recalled catcher Erik Kratz from triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday and placed outfielder Cole Gillespie on the 15-day disabled list with an abdominal strain.

Kratz has a .221 average with three homers and 10 RBIs in 30 games for the Blue Jays this season. In 25 games with the Bisons, he has a .316 average with three homers and 17 RBIs.

Gillespie was claimed off waivers from Seattle last week. In 35 games this season, he has a .243 average with one homer and five RBIs.
