TORONTO – Ontario residents can now go online to confirm their eligibility to vote in the Oct. 27 municipal elections.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation says people can go to voterlookup.ca to make sure they are on the voters list, and update their information if necessary.

The new site is meant to streamline the registration process and reduce lineups at the polls.

MPAC spokesman Arthur Anderson says the group is working with school boards and electoral authorities in Ontario to obtain the information necessary to run the site.

He says people are encouraged to take advantage of early registration so that “they’re able to exercise their democratic right this fall.”
