Celebrating Canada Day: thousands gather at Mississauga’s Celebration Square

Thousands of people have gathered at Mississauga’s Celebration Square to celebrate Canada Day.

Leslie Roberts and Liza Fromer host the event featuring several performers and activities. On the stage, Alyssa Reid headlines the show with performances by Tyler Shaw and JRDN.

In addition to the music, there is a circus act and activities such as face painting.

The streets were lined with food trucks to feed the hungry visitors. Among them was Martha Alba of Per Se Food Truck. She was in attendance for the second straight year and when asked why, she simply said, “I love Canada, it is wonderful.”

Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion also visited the event. She wished everyone a happy Canada Day and left them with a message, ” A happy Canada Day, it’s a great party but to keep Canada the great country that it is, we all have to contribute something,” she said. “We all have something to contribute and it is never too late to start.”
