No more water woes for West Bench Residents

PENTICTON – After years in the works, a ribbon cutting ceremony has officially marked the completion of the West Bench Water Supply Upgrade project.

Residents in West Bench, just west of Penticton, have been boiling their drinking water for years.

The Water system has been completely rebuilt.

Last month, the new system was finally connected to the City of Penticton’s water allowing the boil water notice to be lifted once and for all.

During the lengthy process, two options were identified to help solve the water clarity and quality issues and to meet the Canadian Drinking Water guidelines and Interior Health Authority requirements.

One was a new Ultraviolet Treatment facility. The other included a connection to the treated water from the city of Penticton’s water filtration plant.

Residents agreed through a referendum to proceed with the purchase of bulk water from Penticton’s water system.

The 9.8 Million dollar upgrade to hook up residents to city water was approved in 2012.
