SASKATOON – Police are giving a big thank you to members of the public who helped officers track down a suspected purse snatcher on Monday afternoon.
A woman was walking in the area of Queen Street and 8th Avenue around 4:50 p.m. when a young man grabbed her purse.
She held on and yelled for help but the man was able to rip the purse away from her and then fled. The woman pursued him while continuing to yell for assistance.
Arriving officers were given a description of the suspect by people in the area and were able to track him down.
Police say without the help of the public the suspect may not have been caught.
They are also asking the driver of a grey Nissan Murano SUV who gave officers a description of the suspect to come forward to provide a statement as soon as possible.
