BEAUVAL, Sask. – A submerged pickup truck found at the bottom of a northern Saskatchewan river contains two bodies.

On Monday, RCMP confirmed the tragic discovery inside the sunken vehicle near the community of Beauval, Sask.

The victims’ identities have not been released.

Efforts now are being made to retrieve the vehicle from Beaver River; however, the underwater recovery team (URT) is having difficulty with poor visibility and the river’s current.

Officers were led to the crash scene after an impaired driving complaint on Saturday morning.

Investigators say two local men, in their 20s, were seen in a vehicle described as a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

During the search, vehicle parts were found at a broken guard rail on a bridge on Highway 165.
