WESTSHORE ESTATES, NEAR VERNON, B.C. – An Okanagan woman’s dogs alerted her to a startling find in her living room: a young cougar that had wandered into her home.
The wild animal was chewing on a squeaky toy.
The woman called all three dogs out and left the home, calling 911.
A B.C. Conserveration Services Officer attempted to euthanize the animal in the home, but the equipment failed.
A catch-pole was then used to restrain the animal, which was then euthanized due to its emaciated state.
The resident believes the large cat may have attempted to attack her house cat, as clumps of fur were seen on a chair in the room.
The animal was disposed of in the forest by the officer.
