WATCH: Reporter splits pants live on TV

A North Carolina traffic reporter decided to get into the action during a live report and his pride paid the price.

WXII 12 News reporter Chris Lea challenged a local high school cheerleader to a toe touch contest during the station’s live Backyard BBQ show.

The cheerleader admirably performs the move despite an ankle injury. Putting all the pressure on Lea to match her.

Lea, an independent pro-wrestler, says he does stunts like this all the time in spandex, not dress pants like he was wearing on-air.

As Lea steps up, the on-air reporter comments, “Don’t split your pants, honey. I’m worried about your pants.”

Lea leaps and nails the move. But, as his fellow reporter forewarned, Lea’s pants don’t hold up.

Lea lands and the look on his face is priceless as he tries to cover up the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

Lea says long-lost friends and acquaintances have reached out after seeing the viral video.
