The community is rallying behind the victim of Tuesday’s brazen shooting in Yaletown.

Paul Dragan, the 52-year-old owner of Reckless Cycles in downtown Vancouver, was shot in front of a coffee shop on Davie Street and Marinaside Crescent in broad daylight.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

He had to undergo surgery for his injuries and is still in critical condition.

The alleged shooter, 61-year-old former employee of Dragan Gerald Mark Battersby, has been charged with six counts of attempted murder, one for the attempted murder of Dragan, and five counts of attempted murder in relation to police officers involved in the shootout near Science World that followed the incident.

Westcoast Hot Yoga in Vancouver says Dragan has been their long-time member and had just finished his yoga class shortly before being shot.
