Thunderstorms and heavy rain watch issued for Okanagan/ Similkameen/ Nicola

KELOWNA, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Okanagan, Similkameen and Nicola valley regions.

The storm is expected to move into the south west B.C. interior Thursday afternoon from Washington state.

Heavy rain is the main threat, with amounts of up to 15mm per hour predicted.

Hail and strong wind gusts are also possible, according to the weather statement issued at 11 A.M.

Intense lighting is likely and Environment Canada says residents should take cover if threatening weather approaches.
