CALGARY – An iconic business located in the heart of Mission will be closing its doors in July after years of service.
Bogie’s Casablanca Video announced their pending closure via Facebook on Monday, citing a combination of on-demand services, vending machines and illegal downloading for contributing to their demise.
“When ‘I’ll just download it’ is such a common phrase even within our aisles, it is probably time to close,” said their statement.
The store survived devastating flooding that ravaged the downtown core in June of 2013, but concedes it “chased many of [their] beloved regulars out of the neighborhood.”
The store will close on July 15th.
Officials say they will still be renting movies for the time being, and will be selling off all of their 7-day rentals.
