TORONTO — Is it true or is it fiction?

Actor James Franco has written a short story for VICE in which he details encounters with an actress named Lindsay at Hollywood’s famous Chateau Marmont.

“She was famous because she was a talented child actress, and now she’s famous because she gets into trouble,” Franco wrote in Bungalow 89.

“She is damaged. For a while, after her high hellion days, she couldn’t get work because she couldn’t get insured. They thought she would run off the sets to party. Her career suffered, and she started getting arrested.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

In the story, Franco wrote about “Lindsay” knocking on his door and begging to be let in. He read her stories.

“Now we were lying in bed. I wasn’t going to f*** her. She had her head on my shoulder,” Franco wrote. “She started to talk. I let her.”

In April, Franco told Howard Stern although he did “make out” with Lohan in 2004, they never had a sexual relationship. He called Lohan “delusional” and said her claims of a tryst are “a lie.”

In the short story, Franco also recalls director Gus Van Sant telling him how — during pre-production for 1991’s My Own Private Idaho — actor River Phoenix was pulled over by Portland police “for wearing jeans with a hole in the front so big that his d*** hung out.”
