VANCOUVER – There has been a confession in the 2012 murder of January Lapuz.
New Westminster Police say Charles Jameson Neel has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the stabbing death of Lapuz.

Neel was originally charged with second-degree murder and was arrested on Dec. 5. He was scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday afternoon.
Lapuz, a trans woman, was discovered with stab wounds on Sept. 30, 2012. The 26-year-old later died in hospital.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking into the motive behind the murder.
