OLIVER–RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the suspicious death of a woman at a remote campground near Oliver.
Police were called to the forest service campground at Sawmill Lake at 3 a.m. on Saturday after a report of a disturbance. They found the body of a woman near the shore line.
While police describe being called to a disturbance, nearby campers told Global News they didn’t hear or see anything out of sorts.
“Let’s put it this way,” said Doug Blair, “it wasn’t loud enough to wake me up.”
RCMP woke up every camper in the campsite for questioning, and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit remained at the scene until Saturday evening.
One person was taken into custody for questioning, but has since been released without charges being laid.
