TORONTO — Sarah Allen, one of the stars of Global’s drama series Remedy, will appear opposite Indian film star Randeep Hooda in Canadian director Deepa Mehta’s new film Inland.
The movie, described as an “action-packed family drama,” is set to begin production in Toronto in mid-July.
In addition to Remedy, Allen starred as Rebecca Flynt in the Montreal-shot series Being Human. The Canadian actress has also had roles in 19-2, Little Mosque on the Prairie and Nikita.
Hooda, 37, made his Bollywood debut in Mira Nair’s 2001 film Monsoon Wedding and recently starred in the Indian feature Highway.
Also starring in Inland — which will reportedly be produced in English, Hindi and Punjabi — are veteran Indian actors Gulshan Grover and Kulbushan Kharbanda.
Award-winning Toronto-based composer Mychael Danna, whose wife Aparna is Indo-Canadian, is working on the film’s score and Antoinette Messam is designing costumes.
Mehta’s previous films include Water, Bollywood/Hollywood and 2012’s Midnight’s Children. Inland will be co-produced by her husband, David Hamilton.
