The Canada Border Services Agency has seized 10 Kg of a street drug destined for Calgary from China.
Ethylone is a psychoactive drug with similar effects to ecstasy or amphetamines.
Officers at the Calgary Commercial Operations found the drugs after examining two shipments on April 22 and 23rd.
The shipments had been declared as black iron oxide. Inside each box officers found 5 kg of an unknown dark crystalline substance.
After conducting tests the CBSA determined that the substance was Ethylone.
The CBSA estimates that the Ehylone that was seized would net approximately 100,000 doses.
These are the second and third seizures of amphetamine-like drugs in Calgary this year.
The drugs have since been turned over to the RCMP as officers continue to investigate.
