It’s warmer than normal in southern Manitoba – but the north reaches of the province are expected to be hit by 10 to 20 centimetres of snow as the week ends.
A low pressure system is expected to move into northern Manitoba, bringing rain rain and then, as the air cools, changing to wet snow on Friday.
Brochet, Tadoule Lake, Lynne Lake, Leaf Rapids, Pukatawagan and Churchill can all expect 10 to 20 centimetres of snow from the weather system, Environment Canada warns.
Freezing rain is also possible in the Churchill area Thursday night and Friday morning.
People in the region are warned that visibility may be suddenly reduced by heavy snow.
Temperatures are expected to stay just below or just above freezing in the area through Friday, well below a seasonal normal high of 9 C in Churchill and 18 C in Lynne Lake.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg is expecting a mix of sun and cloud Thursday, with a forecast high of 26 C, above the normal high of 23 C.
