OKANAGAN — Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the North, Central and South Okanagan.

The weather office is forecasting strong gusts in the late afternoon and evening that may be fierce enough to cause damage.

“Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds,” according to Environment Canada.

Gusts up to 90 km/h are being forecast.

“Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds. Avoid wooded areas to prevent injury from falling trees or branches. Campers should move to sturdy shelters.”
