TORONTO – The National Hurricane Center is warning of “life-threatening flash floods and mudslides” in Mexico after the development of a tropical depression off the Pacific coast.
A tropical depression formed Monday afternoon off the southwestern Mexican coast. By Tuesday afternoon it had strengthened to a tropical storm.
The storm, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h, is moving north at about 7 km/h.
Boris is expected to drop about 250 mm to 500 mm of rain through to Saturday with higher amounts over the mountainous terrain in the region.
A tropical storm warning is effect for Salina Cruz, Mexico and the Mexican/Guatemalan border.
