Kelowna hedge fire deliberately set

Global News

KELOWNA– RCMP are investigating following a large hedge fire in Kelowna Monday night.

The 9-1-1 call came in around 9:30 pm.

Neighbours spotted the 30 foot flames and used garden hoses to douse about a dozen cedars until firefighters arrived.

No one appeared to be inside the home on the corner of Grenfell Cres. and Raymer Rd, but RCMP could be seen in the yard talking to a young woman.

The flames came very close to the house, melting the siding.

Several gas cans were lined up on the sidewalk.

Captain John Kelly of the Kelowna Fire Dept. confirms this was a set fire.

The police investigation continues.
