MONTREAL – A 26-year-old man is in hospital after being severely beaten by three suspects in Mount Royal Park Friday evening.
At around 6 p.m., he apparently saw the three men ripping branches and damaging a tree near the Sir George Étienne Cartier Monument near from where the weekly Tam Tams are held.
When he asked them to stop, they punched and kicked him.
“The victim was found lying on the ground by police officers,” said Francois Collard of the Montreal Police.
“He had serious injuries to his head and upper body.”
Police are still speaking to witnesses, but so far have not been able to identify the suspects, who fled the scene.
The victim is in stable condition.
