Canada-wide warrants issued for 2 alleged jewellery thieves
SASKATOON – Police have issued Canada-wide warrants for two men believed to be involved in the armed robbery of Birks jewellery store in Saskatoon.
Pierre Louis Hernandes, 29, and 24-year-old Rida Niam are currently at large.
They are wanted on charges of armed robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence and conspiracy to commit arson.
Police say Hernandes and Niam are not considered dangerous.
On Feb. 1, four men entered the 3rd Avenue business brandishing crowbars and stole a large quantity of Rolex watches and other jewellery before fleeing in van with another suspect.
A short time later, the van was found torched in the area of Bottomley Avenue and Osler Street.
Police believe the suspects then fled to Montreal, Quebec.
In April, Muhidiin Ahmed-Farah was arrested in Montreal and was brought back to Saskatoon to face charges. He was sentenced to four years in prison.
