YouTube inventor makes flame thrower in new ‘X-Men’ inspired video

TORONTO – Pyromaniacs – read no further.

UK-based amateur inventor Colin Furze has released a new video documenting his final X-Men inspired invention – a flame thrower that allows him to shoot fire from his wrists, just like X-Men’s Pyro.

Furze claims his flame thrower is the coolest of his X-Men inventions, though one could argue it’s also the most dangerous.

“After working with some special effects guys on a TV pilot they showed me a great way of creating a gas powered device that was safe and controllable and the result is a real life super hero, well as close as I could get,” Furze wrote on his website.

“To operate the system you just flick your hand back to start the pilot flame then same with the main nozzle using the pilot flame to light the gas.”

The inventor has been working on a series of gadgets meant to mimic the superpowers of X-Men characters, as the latest installment of the series, X-Men: Days of Future Past, hits the big screen.

Previously he created Magneto-inspired magnet shoes strong enough to let him walk across a metal beam on his ceiling and a pair of fully retractable 12-inch stainless steel Wolverine claws.

According to his website, the X-Men series has been his most popular video series to date and he hints that more gadgets may be in the works.
