MONTREAL – A Montreal police officer may be disciplined after a photo showing him in a compromising position was widely circulating on social media.
The grainy image shows a marked patrol car. Inside is a blonde woman who appears to be sitting on the lap of the officer.
The picture was taken by a young women, who said she came upon the scene in downtown Montreal on Monday night.
The 19-year-old told authorities that there were in fact two women and two men in the vehicle.
Uncertain of what was going on, she approached the police car with a friend, and then decided to take a picture.
“At first we thought it was a joke,” Leïla Saad told TVA Nouvelles.
“We clearly saw two policemen and two girls and what they were doing.”
Authorities have traced the image to the police officer in question.
Without describing exactly what was happening when the photo was taken, Ian Lafreniere, a spokesperson for the Montreal police confirmed that an investigation was ongoing.
He said that the “inappropriate gestures” would involve “disciplinary actions.”
The connection of the two women to the police officers has not been confirmed.
