Toronto cyclists celebrate Bike to Work Day

WATCH: Hundreds of cyclist take to the streets for a Bike To Work Day event in Toronto.

TORONTO – Many people in Toronto left their car at home today and took their bicycle to work for the annual Bike to Work Day.

The event celebrates cycling as hundreds bike from various points around the city and converge at Nathan Phillips Square for a free pancake breakfast.

The community bike ride began at 7 a.m. and ended at 9 a.m.

Bike to Work Day coincides with the beginning of Bike Month activities across the city.

New this year, Cycle Toronto will be hosting bike month stations every Tuesday evening at various routes with refreshments, maps and giveaways.

Not to be outdone, it was also Bike to School Day for the little ones.
