UPDATE: Edmonton-area woman killed in Lake Louise crash identified

EDMONTON – Lake Louise RCMP have identified the woman killed in a collision Saturday morning as 25-year-old Robyn Hauck of Leduc.

Lake Louise RCMP, along with Lake Louise Fire Rescue and Banff EMS, responded to a fatal single vehicle collision just west of Lake Louise at 4 a.m.

The crash happened in the westbound lane of Highway 1, just one kilometre west of Lake Louise.

RCMP say a dark-coloured SUV went into the ditch and the two people inside were ejected from the vehicle.

Hauck, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 32-year-old male driver, who has since been identified as Vardan Hovalimyan of Calgary , was taken to a Banff hospital by ground ambulance and then air-lifted to Foothills Hospital in Calgary by STARS air ambulance, where he remains in ICU.

An RCMP collision analyst was called out to assist with the investigation.

Speed and alcohol are being looked into as possible factors in the crash.

One lane of westbound traffic on Highway 1 was closed between Lake Louise and Highway 93 while the collision was being investigated.
