Master of Fine Arts student at UBC Okanagan, Ashley Little, has won two BC Book Prizes which are open to all authors in the province.
It is the first time in the 30 year history of the BC Book Prizes that an author has won in two separate categories for two different books.
Little’s book Anatomy of a Girl Gang won the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize which is awarded for the best work of fiction.
Another book she wrote, The New Normal, which is a young adult novel, won the Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize.
Little is keeping up the momentum as one of her other books has been optioned for a film by a Toronto-based production company and she has been hired to write the screenplay for it.
The BC Book Prizes presents seven awards annually by members of a not-profit society which represents many facets of the publishing and writing community.
