Calgary police are investigating after a man died when he was struck by a CP train in Inglewood.
Police say the man, in his 50s, was attempting to cross the tracks east of 8th street southeast, by crawling underneath the train.
The train was backing into the yard at the time.
The train was travelling no faster than walking speed, when the man became caught on the tracks and was amputated in several spots.
The man was rushed to hospital where he later died.
Police say alcohol is believed to be factor.
He was with his girlfriend at the time, who was not injured. Both are believed to be homeless.
