Watch: Raw video from the scene of the Lachine Canal murder
MONTREAL – Montreal police are investigating the city’s seventh homicide of the year after a body was discovered along the Lachine Canal.
The man’s body was close to the water’s edge, not far from St. Joseph Boulevard and 7th avenue.
It was discovered by a man walking his dog at around 11:20 p.m. Thursday night.
Police have confirmed that an autopsy is being performed in order to determine the cause of death.
“It was impossible to ID the body but it bore marks of violence,” said Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
Investigators are hoping that once the body is identified, relatives of the victim may help them to better understand what happened.
