Police surround Calgary bus after passenger boards with crossbow

CALGARY – Transit users aboard a Calgary bus got quite the scare on Thursday afternoon.

Police surrounded the vehicle as it travelled through the community of Bowness, after a witness reported seeing a passenger board the bus with a crossbow in hand.

They say there are allegations he was pointing it at people.

Officers took two men from the bus into custody.

Police say 42-year-old Kevin James Anderson has been charged with possession of a weapon or imitation dangerous to the public.

Crossbows are not prohibited weapons, so there are currently no regulations in place around their transportation.

The crossbow was not loaded.
