TORONTO – Stephen Harper wasted little time slamming his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs following the Montreal Canadiens’ Game 7 victory over the Boston Bruins Wednesday night.
The prime minister quickly took to Twitter to make his feelings loud and clear: “Great to see a Canadian team finally take out the Bruins in a game 7. #GoHabsGo”
If you recall, the Leafs blew a 4-1 third period lead in their Game 7 match up against the Bruins of last year’s first round playoff series.
Harper said earlier this month that as the lone Canadian playoff team, the Habs are the country’s only hope for a Stanley Cup.
The PM said that while growing up in Toronto in the 1970s, he always supported the then-dominant Canadiens once the Leafs were out of Stanley Cup contention.
