SUMMERLAND — It was a battle he couldn’t beat — but his mother is hoping she can change that outcome for others in the future.
Christopher Walker was 29-years-old when he passed away from colon cancer.

Now one year later, his mother, Ellen Walker-Matthews, teamed up with the Summerland Rotary club to organize a race called the Giant’s Head Grind.
She said the race will be in honour of her son and to raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis.
The inaugural race will take place this Saturday.
