Forget selfies and pictures of your lunch – these days, high school students are using Twitter to broker deals with their teachers to get out of exams. If they get enough retweets, they’re off the hook for finals.
Or so their teachers say.
Take high school senior Andrew Muennink who became the stuff of Twitter legend. Last week, he received more than 15,800 retweets of a photo of him shaking hands with his art teacher.
“15,000 RT and No Art Final By May 23rd at Noon,” the chalkboard read in the background. Muennink fulfilled his end of the deal with ease. His teacher? She still made him write the exam.
“A deal was made and it should be owned up to,” Muennick told ABC News. It seems he became the poster boy for this movement, appearing on news stories across the United States.
As exam season rolls around, desperate students have picked up the trend:
Some are a little too ambitious:

(Three million retweets. Really?)
Some scored a great deal. (500 retweets to skip AP calculus?)
