A mishap involving a crane at a construction site in Surrey has sent three people to hospital.

The incident happened at around 10:30 a.m. Monday at the construction site near 152 Street and 105 Avenue.

Early reports suggest a crane was lifting a load directly off a truck when something went wrong.

Three workers were struck; two of them were sent to Royal Columbian Hospital in critical condition; and one worker was taken to Surrey Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

All three workers are now listed in stable condition as of 3:45 p.m. Monday.

WorkSafeBC will be overseeing the investigation.

An engineer and crane specialist are helping investigate whether occupational health and safety measures were met.
