Road hockey players take to the pavement in Saskatoon

SASKATOON – The ice may have melted from outdoor rinks so many Canadians turned to road hockey this weekend as an alternative.

Players laced up and took to the pavement at the one of a kind tournament that took place at Saskatoon’s Market Mall parking lot on Saturday and Sunday.

Almost 120 teams took part in the Hockey Night in Canada’s “Play On” four-on-four road hockey tournament.

It was open to a wide range of age groups and skill levels.

The event is featured in over 20 Canadian cities during the Stanley Cup playoffs and runs until the end of June.

The tournament is in Regina on May 24-25.
