Kingfisher debris slide likely to cause more problems

KINGFISHER–That massive slide near Enderby that stranded 200 and cut power to nearly 700 more, is forecast to keep causing problems.

Repair work continues in the region to re-construct the washed out Mabel Lake road, but now, fears are mounting about what will happen with all that left over debris.

The massive mudslide that took out a bridge and covered a road carried huge trees and rocks with it.

The Regional District of North Okanagan says it wants the province and other agencies to realize the ramifications of the debris, now in Shuswap River and being carried to Mara Lake.

Trees and logs are already washing up on beaches and private property.

The Regional District wants people to be aware that the debris poses a danger for boaters and other recreationalists.
